Song Wars 2.

Here we go with another Song Wars. This time we’re not looking at a cover. I thought it would be interesting to look at the use of songs for their choruses. Below is Emeli Sandé’s Read All About It Part III recorded live in Aberdeen. I thought I’d go with the live one since it’s such a good performance. After that you’ll find Professor Green’s song, Read All About It. I guess what I’m asking is, do you enjoy the use of someone else’s song in order to express your point. I think that the only person that can express your thoughts is yourself. I get that songs speak to people and they relate, but when you’re putting out your own product then you should write it yourself? Especially for a topic like what he is saying. I understand sampling as you’re using such a small… sample.. that I don’t think it matters, but this sort of thing goes beyond that. Another good example would be Stan, by Eminem. I guess it also comes down to how well the two songs gel, which in the case of Stan was a lot better than these two… Anyway, happy voting.

Which do you prefer?
